Spinarama (Cam’s Card Shark) pulled off the harness racing upset in Saturday night’s featured race at Saratoga Casino and Raceway.
The Chris Marino-trained pacer was piloted aggressively in the $18,000 Open Pace by Austin Siegelman who moved the six year old out to the early lead.
Setting first half fractions of 27.3 and 56.3, Spinarama had plenty left in the tank for the stretch drive despite being dismissed at odds of 19-1.
The race’s co-favorite and last week’s Open winner BJ’s Guy (Bruce Aldrich Jr) came charging hard in the stretch to be second while longshot JK Panache (Mark Beckwith) finished third.
Spinarama’s first victory of the season came in 1:53.2 and served as one of four winners on the card for the 23 year old Siegelman.
Spinarama returned $41.00 to win and led an exacta and triple that paid $100 and $438, respectively.
Live racing resumes on Wednesday afternoon with a 4:00pm first post time.
