Royal Deceptor (RC Royalty) made his 2015 harness racing debut a winning one at Saratoga Casino and Raceway on Wednesday evening.
The Cheryl McGivern-trained trotter had a terrific freshman season in ’14 in which he earned over $70,000 in eight starts.
As a two year old, Royal Deceptor competed almost exclusively in New York Sire Stakes competition and thrived.
Following two qualifiers as preps, the three year old trotter made his first start of the year a winning one on Wednesday, scoring by almost ten lengths in 1:59.2 in the $8,300 Winners of 2 but not more than 4 lifetime trot. Mickey McGivern piloted Royal Deceptor, the race’s 3-5 favorite, to what was his third career victory.
Live racing continues at Saratoga on Thursday with a 4:00pm first post.
