Well, it wasn’t a miracle but it was certainly an upset in the Friday night harness racing feature at Saratoga Casino and Raceway.
It’s A Miracle (Always A Virgin) won the $18,000 Fillies and Mares Open as the race’s longshot.
The Jose Godinez-trained five year old returned to town after scoring her seasonal best win at Yonkers last week.
Dismissed at odds of 14-1 in the five horse Open, It’s A Miracle moved off cover in the stretch and outpaced her rivals home to prevail in 1:53, the fastest time for a distaff pacer this year at the Spa.
Bruce Aldrich Jr. piloted the mare to her third victory of the season.
Last week’s Open winner Deliciouslynaughty (Mark Beckwith) had to settle for second on Friday, losing the photo to It’s A Miracle while Scarlet N Silk (Austin Siegelman) finished third.
Live racing continues on Saturday night at Saratoga with a 6:45pm first post.
