Little Santamonica became the first two-time Open winner at Saratoga Casino and Raceway this season as the pacing mare went wire-to-wire for the second straight Sunday afternoon.
The Jordan Hope-trained mare moved out to front end in the early stages and set fast fractions throughout before opening up a big lead turning for home. Longshot rival Billmar Scooter (Bruce Aldrich Jr) came flying late but came up second best. Venus Delight (Jordan Derue) closed to be third in her seasonal debut. For Little Santamonica, the victory in 1:57.3 is the third on the year. Jim Devaux was the winning driver for the mare who returned $10.80 to win.
Live racing resumes on Thursday night at Saratoga with a 6:45pm first post.
