Class dropping Coach Cal (Camluck) put in a big effort on Thursday night at Saratoga Casino and Raceway en route to his first victory of the year.

The Allan Johnson-trained pacer was coming off an improved third at Monticello when he drew the rail in Thursday's $4,600 conditional pace. Austin Siegelman piloted the five year old pacer whose win in 1:54.4 was one of the fastest of the season thus far at Saratoga.

The favorite Aled Hanover (Shawn Gray) came up second best while Memory Game (Billy Dobson) finished third. Coach Cal returned $8.90 to win for his wire to wire effort.
