Scioto Downs hosted the last of the Ohio State Fair races on Saturday night and the series went out with style with divisions for three-year-old fillies and colts.
Sandys Victory and Josh Sutton conquered the three-year old filly trot in 1:56.2.
Sandys Victory is a daughter of Victory Sam out of Amessageforsandy. She's trained by Larry Tinch who partially owns with John Reames. She started from post six in the lone division of 11 for a purse of $87,000.
Sutton let the filly trot out of there to ensure a good spot and that's exactly what they got. The pair landed in the two hole behind In The Grippers and Chris Page. The perfect pocket trip paid dividends for her connections when Sutton pulled on the right line at the top of the stretch.
She trotted to a comfortable victory and held off the late charge from Anniesbluejeanbaby with Greg Grismore and In The Grippers was third.
Shakin Friskie set a new lifetime best of 1:54.2 at odds of 16-1. Shakin Friskie is the pacing daughter of Feelin Friskie and Shakeurcancancress. She's conditioned by Mark Winters and driven to victory by Dan Noble.
Shakin Friskie pushed the gate away from her six hole spot and ended being parked and pressing on for a seat. Noble cleared just pass the quarter that was paced in :27.2.
The pair sat patiently behind the battling duo of Paydaze On The Way and Crown Time Keeper.The wait paid off when Shakin Friskie got up by a head over Lady Julie and Hannah Forever rallied for the show spot.
Rompaway Galaxy dominates in the three-year colt trot in 1:56. Rompaway Galaxy is a gelded son of Rompaway Wally out Rompaway Wynona. He's trained by Krista Harmon for his owner and breeder, Rompaway Farms.
The gelding started from post eight in the $90,000 Govenor's Cup for three colt trotters.Getting away an early seventh, driver Mike Micallef had his work cut out for him. The pair was underway before the half and three wide by three quarters.
He cruised to a 2 1/2 length win over Count Full Mac and Master Mighty completed the trifecta.
Friskie Adam and Big Bossman continued their winning ways in their separate divisions.Friskie Adam didn't disappoint his backers as the heavy favorite.Kyle Ater pushed the colt to the front and never looked over his shoulder.
They cruised to a 3 length win over Diamondkeeper and Lawyer Up with Ronnie Wrenn Jr were flying on the outside for third.
Big Bossman and Greg Grismore conquered their field in 1:53.2. Grismore let the colt pace as the wings folded and quickly opened up a 3 lengths on the field. It was just a preview of the victorious outcome. Big Bossman scored by a 2 1/2 length margin over Feelin Speedy and Upfront Clays Boy was third.
Racing resumes on Tuesday (August 5) post time is 6:30. This will be the last Tuesday of racing for the 2014 season.
