THEY say you should never look a gift horse in the mouth but in this case that is just the starting point.
Over the next few months there will be "gift horses'' all over Brisbane that will have their teeth, tendons, form and pedigree scrutinised to the nth degree by 10 young harness racing drivers searching for their dream horse.
Leading owner Kevin Seymour, one of Queensland's wealthiest men and a long-time harness racing benefactor, invited the 10 junior drivers to a special meeting last Friday night and unveiled a plan to enhance and cement their futures.
After being promised media training by television personality Jillian Whiting and financial planning assistance, Seymour stunned the youngsters with the dramatic news that he would buy each of them a $15,000 horse. They could choose it, he would buy it and they would own and train it - no strings attached.
