Harness Racing New South Wales (HRNSW) today (Friday May 4) continued the inquiry into a report from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Racing Laboratory (HKJC) that darbepoetin alpha (DPO) had been detected in a pre race blood sample taken from Courageous Kiwi NZ prior to it competing and finishing unplaced in Race 6, the Bohemia Crystal Free for All (2300m) at Menangle on Saturday 26 November 2011.
The presence of DPO in the blood sample has been confirmed by the HFL Sport Science Laboratory in England.
At today’s hearing further evidence was taken from Mr Shannon Wonson and NSW Regulatory Veterinarian Dr Martin Wainscott.
Mr Matters requested and was granted an adjournment to allow further expert evidence to be presented including the calling of expert witnesses in person.
The inquiry was adjourned until Friday 1 June 2012 at 10am at the offices of HRNSW.
The previous Stewards direction suspending Mr Wonson’s trainer’s licence until the completion of the inquiry remains in effect.
