The ever consistent Sheemon nailed his first Group One victory when taking out the $100,000 4YO Ruby at Cambridge today.
“I’m just really pleased for the horse and his connections because they really do deserve it,” said driver, Dexter Dunn.
“He has been close to winning a few Group Ones before today and he is just a lovely trotter who always gives his best.
Dunn said that Sheemon had gone to a new level since heading on his Northern campaign.
Sheemon was yet another who overcame a second-line barrier, giving them several lengths on the bend, before unwinding powerfully to win over Doctor Bones and the pacemaking Prime Power.
Sheemon, who is a son of Monarchy and handy mare Solar Fire, trotted the mile in 1:57.07.
