Goldberg shocked the field and the harness racing fans in the $20,000 Open Handicap Pace at Dover Downs on Thursday night, paying $35.80 to win.
Driver Montrell Teague was able to utilize the quick early speed of Goldberg and gained a pocket trip.Ā It proved to be the winning strategy.
Corey Callahan sent Bo Mach aggressively to the top and intimidated the field in the early going.Ā The field remained in post position order as Bo Mach set fractions of 27 to the quarter and a pedestrian half in:56.1.
The 3/5 race favorite, Solid Gold N and Tim Tetrick moved off the rail from 6th, in front of the stands, as time was ticking away. Tetrick and Solid Gold N, found cover from a 1st over JJ Flynn.Ā JJ Flynn provided heavy pressure as Bo Mach motored to the three quarters in 1:23.Ā
Goldberg and Montrell Teague remainedĀ in the pocket and found a seam late in the passing lane.Ā
Goldberg won by a neck in 1:50.1 at odds of 16-1.Ā Goldberg paced a last half in :54 seconds and the last quarter was marched off in 27 seconds flat.
Goldberg (Mr Wiggles) is owned by Montrell Teagueās Mst Stables Inc. Clyde Frances trains Goldsberg.
Bo Mach cut all the race fractions and finished 2nd. Dylan Davis traines.Ā Solid Gold N, the three to five favorite, closed to finish third for trainer Jim King Jr.
Tim Tetrick won 5 races on the 12 race betting card.Ā Ā
