What That Is (Cam's Rocket) continued his winning ways taking the first Maryland Sire Stakes split for harness racing two year old colt and gelding trotters. Driver Brian Burton sent What that Is to the front from post 5 in the wire to wire victory over pocket sitting Iron Mine Bro in 1:57.2 for owner Brian Emerson, trainer Judy Welty and breeder Richard Hans.
Coming late to the racing scene No Drama De Vie (Charlie De Vie) dominated the second division for trotting colts and geldings opening up 18 lengths over Whitesville Earl in the 1:56.2 mile. Frank Milby was in the bike for trainer Hermann Heitmann, owner Joie De Vie Farm and co-owner/breeder Lisa Caposio.
The freshmen pacing fillies finished the non-wagering card with a field of nine going to post. Trainer Steve LeBlanc assigned Ross Wolfenden the driving duties behind HS Shauna (Up Front Charlie). The pair got away third but took control of the mile by the half holding off a strong charge by Miss Choptank stopping the clock in 1:55. Cary Grady is the owner and breeder of HS Shauna.
