Exceptional pacer Smolda has been sidelined again.
Just three starts after returning from a 10-month injury layoff, the former Jewels and Derby winner is out for the rest of the season.
Smolda, who was fourth in the Inter Dominion Final last start, suffered a strange leg injury two weeks ago that initially has co-trainer Mark Purdon perplexed.
"His leg blew up and we didn’t know what was wrong but it looks like he burst a blood vessel in it,” said Purdon.
“He is better now and should be fine long term but we have decided to put him out and start again next season.”
Smolda was being set for the Easter Cup, in which stablemate Adore Me will take on Terror To Love next week.
