Harness racing's glamour boys will be in action this Saturday at Mohawk to contest in a pair of Somebeachsomewhere Stakes divisions, the key prep race for the $1.5 million Pepsi North America Cup, slated for June 16.

Casie Coleman, who captured the 2010 edition of the Cup with Sportswriter, will send out a trio of three-year-old pacing colts in the $100,000 divisions.

Headlining the Coleman stable will be Michaels Power, who captured the Upper Canada Cup final in is most recent outing at Georgian Downs.

The homebred son of Camluck-Michelles Jackpot has amassed $317,250 this season and remains a perfect three-for-three for owner/breeder Jeffrey Snyder.

“He was phenomenal [in the Upper Canada Cup],” Coleman said. “Last year when we raced him, he showed a lot of potential so we shut him down and he’s come back just awesome this year.”

Michaels Power will leave post three for driver Scott Zeron in the second division. Coleman will also send out Ideal Romance and American GI. WEG’s communications department recently spoke with Coleman, to view the video interview click here.

The Robert McIntosh stable will be well represented in the ‘Beach’ Stakes on the weekend as Thinking Out Loud and Dapper Dude will go postward in the first and second division, respectively.

Thinking Out Loud, who is a perfect three-for-three this season, will begin from post two for regular driver Randy Waples.

The lightly-raced son of Ponder- Los Angeles, who captured the Dream Maker Series final last season at the Campbellville oval, has amassed $80,750 in his career and earned a 1:50.4 lifetime-best for owner/breeder Robert McIntosh Stables Inc, C S X Stables and Al McIntosh Holdings Inc.

Fresh off his Pennsylvania Sires Stakes (PASS) victory in 1:49.4 at Pocono Downs, Dapper Dude appears to be in top form for his Hall of Fame trainer.

The son of The Panderosa-Dress To Suggest has banked $138,421 in his career and is undefeated in two starts this season for owner/breeder Robert McIntosh Stables Inc and Al McIntosh Holdings Inc. He will begin from post two for driver John Campbell.

The Burlington Stakes debuted in 1964 and was renamed in 2011 after the renowned pacer, Somebeachsomewhere, who caught the nation’s attention by winning 20 races in 21 starts and showing exceptional speed with a 1:46.4 world equalling record at The Red Mile.

A pair of Casual Breeze divisions will also be apart of the Mohawk programme this weekend.
