The first meeting of the Southern harness racing season takes place at Ascot Park Raceway in Invercargill this Sunday (12 August).

The Invercargill Harness Racing Club hosts the meeting with eight races on the card. The first is timed to start at 12.35pm and admission is free.

The feature event is the Macca Lodge Discretionary Handicap Pace over 2700 metres for a stake of $8000. Several businesses from the Windsor Shopping area go to Ascot this weekend with D'Coy, Interior Girls Of Windsor and Not Just Shoes all supporting races at the event.

In addition one race on the card has been allocated to celebrate the 18th Birthday of Courtney Dempster. Southern Harness Racing are always happy to provide opportunities for those interested to use race naming rights to commemorate birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and other special occasions and this has proved popular in the past.
