Stallion breedings 'Auction' at Globe Derby

Next Sunday afternoon SA BOTRA is holding one of its biggest harness racing fund raisers of the year when it hosts their Christmas In July function at Globe Derby Park with special guest speaker Gary Hall Senior, apart from the fun and good time to be had over lunch with Hall, breeders will have a chance to pick up a bargain at the annual stallion auction.

This year’s lineup see some of Australia’s best stud represented, Alabar Farm have donated a service to Grinfromeartoear, the Artsplace stallion has sired 126 individual winners this season to date including Pure Power who was placed in the Miracle Mile WA star juvenile Mister Jadore and local star 3yo Nothing In Between. Also from the Alabar Draft is Trotter Great Success the fastest ever square gaiter to stand in this part of the world Great Success is the sire of local 2yo Boundary Row.

Concorde Park which is owned by Mick Lombardo has donated services to Lombo Pocket Watch and Lombo Mandingo both are starting to make their mark as stallions.

Empire Stallions have come to the party with nominations to Modern Art, Blissfull Hall and Village Jolt. Blisfull Hall is the sire of local hero Come On Frank and Grand Circuit performer Bitobliss.

Modern Art will no doubt attract spirited bidding being the sire of 131 thus far this current season

Village Jolt is a interesting stallion, the son of Cams Card Shark who’s oldest Australian progeny will hit the tracks next season Village Jolt was voted North Americas best 2yo of his year over Rock and Roll Hanover and American Ideal. Artesian who stands at Ian & Judi Slater’s Goodtime Lodge near Colac in Victoria, is also likley to attract interest, he is the sire of star WA Pacer David Hercules.

The last stallion to go under the hammer is Inter-dominion champ Mr. Feelgood who is already sired four individual winners from his first Australian crop, including five time winner Charming Allie. Mr. Feelgood’s nomination is courtesy of Kevin and Kay Seymour.

As a special treat any person who purchases a service fee to the value of $1500 or greater they will be special guests of BOTRA at their Golden Nursery race night on July 27th in their spacious BOTRA Room overlooking Globe Derby Park .
