Saturday’s €45,100 purse Gran Premio Terme di Montecatini (three year-olds) in Italy went to Stankovic OK with Enrico Bellei aboard.
The Holger Ehlert trainee is a son of Self Possessed-Flavia Kronos-SJ’s Photo and bred by Scuderia Branchini. Domino Stables owns this winner.
After an early speed battle with Superbo Capar (Calypso Capar-Dark Degli Ulivi-Indro Park), Bellei gained command and rated the pace carefully. The winning team ended the affair swiftly, scoring in a race record 1.13.8kr over the 2040 meter distance.
Superbo Capar (handled by G. Lombardo Jr.) held second with Santiago D’Ete (Daguet Rapide-Love Me Tender-Supergill) a distant third for Roberto Andreghetti.
The winner recorded his sixth career victory in 13 starts for life earnings of €76,725. Skyline Dany, Sogno d’Amore and Shiraz Roc went off-stride early and were disqualified.
