Ferocious stretch drive led to victory in the first of three North America Cup eliminations, earning him the top spot in the Top 10. Trainer’s decision to qualify the week before worked to perfection. Alagna: “The qualifier was encouraging and he responded just as we’d hoped. He’s lightly raced, but that’s the way we handled Captaintreacherous.” A good way to go. Captaintreacherous won both the NA Cup and Meadowlands Pace in 2013.

Had a rough go of it in Elim 2, going a tough trip before finishing seventh. Burke: “He was forced wide around a breaking horse and the track was not playing to horses who were making early moves. I’m not panicked about it. He’ll take the week off. The Hempt will be next.”

Copped the last spot in the NA Cup Final by finishing fourth in his elim, then having his name drawn when the three fourth-place finishers’ names were put in a hat. Saturday will mark his second start since a major head pole adjustment. Maybe part-owner Ric Flair can teach him the Figure Four, a move the wrestling great used to finish off his opponents.

Opted to not go to toronto with either of his colts in the Top 10. How’s This Is The Plan doing? Ryder: “Very well. I’m very happy with him. We are going to train him and go right to the Hempt.” Hey Chris, since you are not in the race, who do you like in the NA Cup? “Teague’s horse (Lather Up, who won the third elim impressively in 1:49.2.).”

Displayed high speed, settled for third in Elim 2 as the 9-5 favorite. Alagna: “He was used pretty good to get to the lead. He was very good. He trained back super Wednesday morning. He’s ready for a solid effort.”

Continued his Cinderella march toward a possible Meadowlands Pace start by bullying an overmatched field at 1-9 at Pocono in what was only his third-ever start. Given how wide-open this crop looks, why not him on the second Saturday in July? Takter: “It’s possible he could be there.”

Peaking at just the right time? Takter trainee flew home at 28-1 to miss a neck to Elim 2 winner Wes Delight in what was by far his best start of the year. Fresh horse makes just his fourth start of the season and could be one for those seeking a big price.

Never left the rail in a sixth-place finish in his elim but his trainer still believes he’s a player. Alagna: “He was the victim of a bad trip. He trained super Wednesday morning.” He’s in the NA Cup Consolation.

Never got close in his elim after departing from post 10. Will face stablemate Babes Dig Me as well as fellow Meadowlands Pace eligibles Major Authority and Dragon Time in the consolation. Alagna: “The plan is for all four of my horses to be there at the Meadowlands Pace.”
