Two of the 500 horses stabled at Fraser Downs Raceway in British Columbia have contracted a strangles a bacterial infection according to local veterinarian, Dr Ed Wiebe. He said this would have a big impact on the upcoming Cloverdale Rodeo in Surrey.
According to Damian INWOOD's story in The Province, Cloverdale Rodeo may be forced to place about 150 horses at a quarantined stable next month after at least two horses have been discovcered with the came down with a highly contagious disease.
Rodeo officials are considering building a temporary barn in the parking lot to keep the horses participating in the rodeo quarantined from the other horses at the track. They are awaiting an update before deciding upon what actions to take. Read Damian's story here.
