Cash Poor (Cash Hall) parlayed the pocket ride to victory in Sunday's harness racing feature at Saratoga Casino and Raceway.
The eight year old trotter drew post position four in the $11,000 Winner Over trot and was situated into the pocket spot in the early going by driver Jim Devaux.
No Recess (Jordan Derue), who blasted out to the early lead in a sizzling first quarter clocked in 26.4, held strong until mid-stretch when he was reeled in by Cash Poor who took full advantage of the 1 1/16 mile distance in the feature. No Recess held on for second while Stirling Cadet (Frank Coppola Jr) earned the show spot.
It was the third win of the season already at the Spa for Cash Poor and the second victory in the Winners Over for the Harry Reddick Jr-trained trotter. Cash Poor, who is owned by the Traylor Racing Stable of Ballston Spa, NY, returned $8.10 to win and led an exacta and triple that paid $68.50 and $170.50, respectively.
The time for the 1 1/16 mile trot was 2:04.2 on a windy and cold April afternoon in the Spa City.
Live racing resumes on Thursday with a first post time of 4:00pm.
