Support Justice and Geir Vegard Gundersen win Norway Derby

Support Justice (4m Kadabra-Artisane) won today’s (Sundays)  VG Norsk TravDerby in Oslo, Norway for four year-olds in 1.14.6kr, over 2600 meters autostart, to take home the winners share of the 292,434 euro purse (2 million kr).

Trainer Ger-Vergard Gunderssen did the driving for owners Arne Sandbaek Jr. and Erik Sandbaek.

The winner went off as 2/1 favorite and now has 12 wins, good for over 255,000 euro lifetime. He defeated Baldini (4m Standpoint-Real Big Bang) in a close finish, the latter driven by Frode Hamre. Thai Broadway (4m Broadway Hall-Isabella Knick) was third for driver Gunnar Austrevoll and trainer Tom Anderssen.

The co-feature at Bjerke was the Finn-Tack Norsk TravKriterium for three year-olds, going 2100 meters autostart for a purse of 225,941 euro (1.5 million kr).

The 9/1 outsider Papagayo E (3m Coktail Jet-Ann Speedy T) took the win in 1.14.4kr with Vidar Hop driving. He defeated Conquestador BR (3m Donato Hanover-Likely Volo) and driver Bjorn Goop by a length with third going to Golden Street (3g Dream Vacation-Sea Bird Laday).
