DOVER, Del. —-Cicada's Song, scratched last week, returns in one of a trio of Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) $20,000 Two-Year-Old Filly Trot to start 2nd Leg prelim action on Monday, Nov. 16 at Dover Downs.
Jane Dunavant's Virginia-owned trotting filly won both her DSBF prelims at Harrington in October and the $50,845 winner of five of her six lifetime races this season will make her initial Dover Downs appearance with trainer Carlo Poliseno in the bike. Owner-trainer Kevin Switzer's homebred Jasmine K (Montrell Teague) won the Harrington DSBF Consolation in 1:59.4.
Don Marvel's Miss Baltimore (Tony Morgan) won last week and get the rail in the second $20,000 DSBF prelim with Winbak Farms' Triple Bottom Line (Jeff Fout) a strong second. Mist Stable's Harper's Ego (Jason Thompson) finished third in his prelim.
Epic Smash notched an impressive 2:01.2 victory last week in his second start since winning the $100,000 DSBF Final at Harrington. Iron Mine Branch's Chestnut Chic (Jim Morand) was also a prelim winner. Stacy Stafford's Press Corp finished second in her first lifetime start with Art Stafford Jr. driving.
The other half of the DSBF double features three starters hoping to rebound after early breaks last time out. Owner-trainer Kevin Switzer's Jasmine K (Montrell Teague), Triple Bottom Line (Jeff Fout) and Moore OK (Allan Davis) racing for Eddie Davis and Allan Pullman. S. Dunavant's Devlin (Polisino) drew the rail.
After the second prelim round, the top eight point-getters in each of the four DSBF male and female, trotting and pacing divisions return for $100,000 Finals.
Delaware-sired Remember Me VK (Montrell Teague), fresh from a 1:50.2 triumph is the lone three -year-old in the field in the $18,000 3,4&5-Year-Old Open pace. Mike Casalino and trainer Dylan Davis' Four Staces (Corey Callahan) finished second in last week's feature. Janet Hudson and JoAnn King's Little Ben (Tim Tetrick) had a two-race win streak snapped with a third last Monday.
Doug Lewis and Carter Racing's Captive Audience (Callahan) is a newcomer after racing at Yonkers and Pocono Downs in his last two outings. Karen Walls' Elite Awards (Ross Wolfenden) raced in upstate New York and was a top pacer during the Summer months. Gary Simpson's Shiretown Pitbull (Sean Bier) drew the rail. Hazzard, Calloway and Legacy Racing's Sweet Rock (Brett Miller) complete the field.
Canadian speedster and local standout head a field of nine in the $21,000 Filly and Mare Winners-Over pace, the Tuesday feature race.
Monday through Thursday racing begins at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday are dark days.
A $5,000 Guaranteed Pick-4 Pool is now featured daily.
