TROTBritain have secured the go ahead to stage two LeTrot trotting races at the Betfred owned all weather Thoroughbred track, Chelmsford City Racecourse in Chelmsford, Essex, England.
The meeting is on 10th November 2016 and will consist of a full card of Thoroughbred races with two TROTBritain organized LeTrot races tagged onto the end of card.
This historic trial will be the first time that two Standardbred trotting races alone have been staged on the same card as gallopers.
This historic event could not have happened without the enthusiasm and determination of the management of Chelmsford City Racecourse and the support of LeTrot, the French Trotting governing body.
TROTBritain representatives oversaw a trial under workout conditions, and the all-weather mile round track at Chelmsford is ideal for racing the French trotters.
TROTBritain hopes that if this trial on 10th November is successful, it will develop to be a more of a permanent fixture and help develop the forward progress of LeTrot races in Great Britain.
There will be betting on course on the two races and it is hoped that these trotting races will be beamed into Betfred betting shops to wager on the night.
TROTBritain are always looking at ways to further the Standardbred sport and this trial at Chelmsford City Racecourse and the publicity that it will attract can only further progress the long term goals of a flourishing trotting program in Great Britain.
TROTBritain members are now developing closer links with Ireland as well, to enhance the LeTrot races, and breeding Trotter Francais in both countries.
More details about this historic event will be forthcoming.
