DAYTON, OH. – Tyler Smith had an exceptionally hot hand over the rain-soaked Hollywood Dayton oval on Monday night (December 28), winning half of the 14 races on the harness racing program.
With the huge night, Smith moved into seventh place in the local dash standings despite only racing at Dayton one night a week while Hoosier Park was in season.
The Ohio native has been a regular since the Indiana track closed for the year in late-November.
Now 22, Tyler was the youngest driver in history to record his 1000th win a couple years ago.
Smith's successes started in race two when he guided Sweet Caldonia to a 1:57.3 score, returning $6.60 at the mutuel windows.
His other winners were E R Taylor (1:54.3, $5.40), Tiene's Leche (1:54.1, $6.80), Bettor And Bold (1:53, $7.00), Lincolnjames (1:53.2, $3.80), Westport (1:53.3, $4.00) and Sammy Storm (1:54.1, $12.40).
There are just two nights left in Hollywood Dayton's second season. Post time is 6:35 p.m. Tuesday (December 29) and Wednesday (December 30), with 14 races of full nine-horse races on both evenings.
