Tabcorp Holdings Limited has been ranked as the global gambling industry leader in the annual Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI).
It is the eighth time in the past nine years that Tabcorp has received this recognition and sets Tabcorp ahead of other Australian and international operators of wagering, casinos and lotteries businesses.
Of the 17 environmental, social and economic categories upon which the assessment is based, Tabcorp ranked highest in ten in the gambling sector.
Tabcorp received a 100 per cent rating in the ‘Promoting Responsible Gambling’ category. Tabcorp has received a 100 per cent rating in this category for seven successive years.
“Tabcorp’s continued global leadership in the annual DJSI is a reflection of our long term commitment to operating sustainably,” said Tabcorp Managing Director and CEO, David Attenborough.
“We are pleased to continue to be recognised as a world leader in the responsible service of gambling and for our high standard of governance.
“This is particularly important recognition in a year where there was significant community concern around the nature and extent of sports betting promotion in Australia.
“Tabcorp is committed to operating its businesses with integrity and in a responsible manner for the long term benefit of our many stakeholders, including our racing industry and hotel and club partners.”
In addition to promoting responsible gambling, Tabcorp’s other key areas of focus for its sustainability framework include integrity, its people, risk management, supporting the community, environment, customers and its supply chain.
Tabcorp’s businesses also return significant levels of public funding. In the 2013 financial year, Tabcorp’s businesses generated more than $600 million in taxes on gambling and income taxes paid and payable.
