With the Tasmanian Yearling sale only a month away on January 8th in Launceston it's time to start flick through the upcoming catalogue and look at some of the lots that will go under the hammer in Australia's first harness racing yearling sale.

The sale has attracted 69 entries which is a record number of entries its up by 12 on the previous record set in 2009 - and they are by 33 different stallions and from a high percentage of race-winning or winner-producing mares

Filly by JR Mint out of El Jays Belle an October, 2009 foal is a half sister to Daisy Adele, winner of 2010 Tasmanian Sales Race Classic for Fillies and 2010 Launceston Belmont she was also placed three times from her eight 2yo starts. El Jays Belle is a Time stands Still mare was a winner of two races from only 14 starts she is closely related to former fast class pacer Seymour Michael

Also part of Big Park’s draft is a bay or brown filly by Courage Under Fire out of Highview Goldie NZ a November, 2009 foal she is a half sister to three winners including Highview Hanover 3 wins and Karoola Town a winner of four races. Courage Under Fire’s progeny are going well he is now the sire of over 50 winners in Australia and over an amazing 260 winners in his native New Zealand.

Ambro Operative mare Hawkette has a filly by Life Sign Hawkette is the dam of only three foals one of racing age Zivas Magic who started three times as 2yo last season she is from the family of Next Bonus who won 45 races in the early 90’s including the NSW Breeders Plate a heat of the Vic Sires Stakes 4th in the final and also won the Group 2 Golden Nursery Stakes at Globe Derby Park. Hawkette is also closely related to Lend us a Score winner of the G2 Alabar 2yo Pace and runner up in the Southern Cross Series Final after winning a heat.

Annbolyn a dual Harold park winner from only 8 starts has a Life Sign filly in the sale Annbolyn’s has only one other live foal, 3 year old Anna Marta winner of 5 races in 2009/10 season

This filly’s grand dam is the Kentucky mare Ashlee who apart from Annbolyn is Ashlee’s Babe who won 22 races including the Queensland Oaks, The Princess Mile in fact she was only beaten twice as 3yo 4th in the NSW Oaks Final and the Victorian Oaks Final when she failed to finish.

As a 4yo Ashlee’s Babe won Vicbred Series Final for 4yo mares.

Superior Stature has a filly also by Life Sign as part of the draft she is the dam of Victorian winner and sub two minute performer Cruisin Fella 2009/10.

Another filly by Blissfull Hall out of Seduce she is a sister to two dual winners. From strong maternal family, grand dam Provocative who won 19 races and was outstanding female of her 3yo and 4yo season her wins include the NSW Oaks and as 4yo the Ladyship Cup.

Provocative is out of great broodmare Gay Acres who is also the dam of champion pacer and successful sire Classic Gary, Special Garry and former WA fast class pacer Young Symbol

The only colt in the Big Park draft is by Pacific Fella out of Just Monica a Crouch mare from the family of Muckinbar Miss and Muckinbar Lady

Kinda Pacing Stables has two fillies being offered for sale one by Lombo Pocket Watch out of Kinda Natural an Armbro Interceptor( Direct Scooter) mare who is grand daughter of Fillybuster twice voted WA broodmare of the year in 1997 & 1998, this is Kinda Natural third foal the second is a 2yo by the ill fated Dr Drew currently being prepared for early 2yo races.

Her dam Kinda Racy is by Racy Prince who had 4 other foals all multiply winner Fiilybuster by Classic Garry’s half brother Young Symbol, gave birth to 6 live foals 4 winners including Kinda Red 29 wins before being exported to USA

Like Lombo Pocket Watch this filly is a steel grey that will turn heads once she enters the parade ring.

Kinda’s other nomination is a daughter of former WA Filly of the Year Beverley Button a November foal by Parson Den

Beverley Button is by Armbro Interceptor was the winner of the WA Sires Stakes for 3YO Fillies at Gloucester Park

Parson Den is the sire of nearly 100 individual winners including the ill-fated champion 2yo James Mathews and Amongst Royalty who at 2 won the APG final and Bathurst Gold Crown, at 3 she won the WA Oaks and WA Sires Stakes.

The Dragons Lair’s son has sired the winners of Australia’s major classics such as Australian Pacing Gold, Bathurst Gold Tiara, WA Oaks, WA Pearl, WA Sires Stakes, WA Golden Slipper, WA Sales Classic, Champagne Classic and Victoria Gold Chalice.
