The most potent team in Australian harness racing, team McCarthy, have kicked off what could be an absolutely magical day for them with an early treble.

Opening the account for them was former New Zealand star three-year-old Courage To Rule, who claimed glory in the $40,000 NSW Rising Stars for young reinswoman Kylie Barnes.

An effortless win by gun two-year-old Lettucerockthem soon followed in the $125,000 Group One Art Major Alabar NSW Breeders Challenge for 2YO Colts & Geldings, which was a fitting result considering both Lettucerockthem and runner-up Handsome Major are both sired by Art Major.

Lettucerockthem, who was sent out at minuscule odds of $1.10, was crossed early by Handsome Major, before taking over the lead soon after. From there he had an easy lead, and after being held back to them around the bend, kicked away for an effortless 5.6m win.

The time was a relatively slow 1:56.5, which is more than four second slower than the Australasian record he set when winning the APG Final. The win was Lettucerockthem's sixth straight.

In the following race, the Auckland Reactor Alabar NSW Breeders Challenge for the 2YO Fillies, the husband and wife duo were hot again, taking out the $125,000 feature with Spicy Stride, who is also by Art Major. Ocean Diva and Luda claimed the minor money.

Still to come for the dynamic duo are strong chances Bebrave, Grand Stride and the Len Smith Mile quad of Excel Stride, Garnet River, Our Sixpence and Mach Alert.
