SUMMERSIDE, PE – After taking on the finest pacers in Atlantic Canada, Heart And Soul returns to top class action on a special Monday afternoon harness racing program at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.
The Monday afternoon card has a 1 P.M. opening post time with 13-dashes on display. Heart And Soul has drawn the outside in a compact five-horse field in the afternoon featured, carded as race 12 of the day. The $2,600 event has Heart And Soul the morning line favourite after pacing in 1:55.1 but failing to earn a cheque in his latest against top Invitational stars like Time To Dance and Rose Run Quest. Jason Hughes will hold the lines of the George Riley trained son of Western Paradise for owner Riley Farms Ltd., of Summerside. The former Maritime Champion boasts five wins and five seconds from 15 seasonal starts. His main competition comes from the rail sitting Melanies Magic with Dale Spence at the controls for trainer MacKenzie MacInnis. Bugger Max (To be driven by Mark Haig) will leave from post 3 as he ships in from New Brunswick, like a number of entries on the Monday program.
The Backstretch Beat in Monday's card pegs Heart And Soul as the one to beat. "Heart And Soul drops out of the top class and into a group he has shown he can handle every single week. He should be the top dog in the feature again."
Rounding out the feature field are Flash In The Pang (Ken Murphy) and Brandons Glory (Adam Merner).
The afternoon back-up pace takes to the track in the race 13 finale with Best To Hurst the morning line favourite from post 6 in the $2,250 event. David Dowling will be in the driver's seat for trainer Jonah Moase and owner Neal Moase of Warren Grove. Other top entries are Union Man Hanover (Spence) and Instant Shadow (Myles Heffernan Sr.).
