Our Hillview Gold - Won the 2011 Charlton Pacing Cup

The Charlton Harness Racing Club has added a new Feature Race to its 2013 Cup Program, to be run as a Twilight Fixture on Sunday, March 3rd.

The new Feature Race, the “Cup Day Fanatics Two-Year-Old-Classic”, for two year olds over the mobile 2,100 metres (PBD/2C) carries prizemoney of $8,500 plus trophy and inscribed rug to the winning owner, as well as a $1,500 VHRSC Bonus, bringing the total potential prizemoney up to over $10,000.

The new race is the brainchild of a number of local Charlton Trotting enthusiasts who are keen to try to attract some of the best two-year-olds and future stars to the town for Cup Day.

It is hoped that owners and trainers will support this new initiative so that it can become a regular part of Charlton Cup Day.

This will add to the traditional Feature, the $25,000 “Dunlop Super Dealer” 2013 Charlton Pacing Cup, to be run under mobile conditions over 2,570 metres.

The race is open to M0 or better pacers, with preferential barrier draw manual field selection conditions to apply. The winner will also take home an engraved Gold Cup and inscribed rug.

The other feature race on Cup Day, the $15,000 “Charlton And District Community Bank” 2013 Charlton Trotters Cup, will be run over the 2,570 standing start and open to TM0 or better Trotters, with discretionary handicap conditions (preferential barrier draw according to class) to apply. The winner will also take home an engraved Gold Cup and inscribed rug.

Another key race is the $10,000 Loveland Electrical Vicbred Platinum Mares Sprint Championship Heat for C1/C2 Vicbred Only Mares over the 1,609-metre sprint trip (PBD/C). The winner will qualify for the $40,000 (MP) Final at Melton on April 26th.

The $5,000 Charlton Chamber Of Commerce And Industry Pace Final for 4YO+ C1 Only over the 2,100-metre stand (RBD), and the $5,000 Swift Freight Pace for C0 Only over the 2,100-metre mobile (PBD) will also both carry $1,500 VHRSC Bonuses and trophies to the winning owners and will be determined from horses that qualified at the Birchip Cup At Charlton Meeting on February 21st.

The Gretgrix Family 3YO Pace over the 1,609-metre mobile (PBD/3C) will also carry a $1,500 VHRSC Bonus and trophies to the winning owners, whilst the remaining race is also a trophy race.

The day will again be run as a FREE ENTRY RACEDAY, with a huge range of additional entertainment planned, it will include a whole raft of other forms of entertainment available for both adults and children.

Furthermore, patrons will have the chance to take home many great prizes in the various On-Course Competitions that will be conducted throughout the evening.

The day’s entertainment will kick off earlier in the afternoon, with outstanding Kilmore Band “Stereo Type” rocking the Complex from 2.00pm with their vast range of past to present classics.

They will also return to the stage after the races to rock on into the night. And in an exciting new initiative, patrons can also watch and bet on the Feature Races from Menangle, including the 2013 Inter Dominion Final, live on the Big Screen from 2.00pm. Live racing commences from 3.50pm.

Patrons on course will also have the chance to take home a magnificent prize in the Major Cup Sweep Competition conducted on the Pacing Cup.

Free Entry is available in the Cup Sweep via the purchase of a racebook on the day, or else by the Entry Form on the Information Pamphlet that will be mailed out to all households in the Charlton District in the coming weeks.

The major prize for the Cup Sweep Competition – to be provided by Escape Travel of Bendigo Marketplace Shopping Centre – is a magnificent Three Night 4 ½ Star Accommodation Package at THE Wyndham Resort, Torquay For Two People, Including Breakfasts. (Valued At Approx. $1,100).

Lucky patrons will also have the chance to win numerous Betting Vouchers that will be drawn throughout the day, ranging up to $100 in value.

These will certainly create some excitement and serious punting for the lucky winners. Entry to this draw is again free via the purchase of a racebook, or else by the Entry Form on the Information Pamphlet that will be mailed out to all households in the Charlton District in the coming weeks.

The ever-popular “Fashions On The Field Competition” has also been expanded this year, with new categories and larger prizes. It will again be sponsored by the Victorian Harness Racing Sports Club, Tormey’s Charlton IGA Supermarket and House To Home Decorating.

Categories this year will include “Best Dressed Racegoer” where the winner will have the chance to compete for huge prizes in the 2013 Country Cups Final at Melton on March 23rd.

Other categories will be “Best Dressed Local Racegoer”, “Young Racegoer Of The Day”, “Junior Racegoer Of The Day” and “Hat Of The Day”.

This Competition grows in popularity each year and everyone of all ages should be encouraged to turn out in their raceday finery for a chance to win these great prizes.

There will also be numerous Prize Draws throughout the day – again with free entry – with the Charlton Chamber Of Commerce providing prizes and vouchers, whilst Bertocchi Smallgoods will be giving away sumptuous Gift Packs that feature many of their fine products.

And, of course, the kids are not forgotten. There will be free icypoles and lollypops, free Jumping Castle and the spectacle of the Pony Trot Races, where the young harness stars of the future will compete for the Bertocchi Smallgoods 2013 Charlton Pony Trot Cup.
