It’s been an interesting week in Europe and that is expected to continue tomorrow through August 11.
On August 2 at Aby was the Prix Red Mile (125,000SEK to winner, 1609 meters autostart) with an impressive victory secured by the rallying 4.8/1 Probo OP (9m From Above-Elimaria-Lemon Dra) timed in 1.09.9kr. Win Paal trains and drive Probo OP for owner Connie Srl.
This veteran now has 20 career wins in 75 starts for 4,648,054SEK earned. This horse was making his second start under the direction of Paal after a few starts in Italy. He was unraced in 2017 and made only four starts in 2016. 7.8/1Montlore (8m Love You-Self Made Woman-Self Possessed was second with Bjorn Goop for trainer Robert Bergh. Third was 12.1/1 Global Money (11g Love You-Norwegian Beauty-Yankee Glide), also a Bergh trainee, and reined by Christoffer Eriksson
The V75 action on August 4 was at Rattvik. The Gr. II International Sommartravets Final (300,000SEK to winner, 2640 meters voltstart distance handicap) saw the 20 meter handicapped and 51/1 Raja Ribb (6g Raja Mirchi-Joyous Sound-Sugarcane Hanover) score timed in 1.13.3kr with Tomas Pettersson driving.
The 30/1 Vasterbo Grosbois (7g Good As Gold-Tatum Trot-Firm Tribute) was second, handicapped 20 meters, ahead of 5/1 On Track Piraten (10g Kool du Caux-Monrovia-Rite On Line), handicapped 40 meters, and driven by trainer Hans RF. Stromberg.
Also on the Rattvik card was the V75 Gold Ego Boys Minne (200,000SEK, 1640 meters autostart) with 16/1 Cool Keeper (8m Broadway Hall-Missys Go Go-Yankee Glide) timed in 1.09.9kr for trainer/driver Leif Witasp. Unique Juni (5f Uptown Yankee) and Charrua Forlan (8g Up Front Larry) followed the winner home.
The V75 Silver (150,000SEK to winner, 2140 meters autostart) at Rattvik went to 7/1 Linus Boy (6g Zola Boko-Recos Lady-Varenne) for trainer Timo Nurmos and driver Kim Eriksson. Race time was 1.12.1kr. M.T. Joinville (7g Meaulnes du Corta-Ivy LB-Varenne) was next for Jorma Kontio and third was Super Zantos (8g Mythical Lindy-Sunbird Zophie-Zoogin) for Ante Lisell.
At Meslay du Maine was the Prix de l’Hippodrome (purse 32,000 euro, 2875 meters distance handicap, 18 starters). 45/1 As de Brevol (8g Opus Viervil-Lady de Brevol) scored timed in 1.13.6kr with Anthony Barrier at the lines for owner/trainer Johannes Denneman.
The 21/1 Verso de Crennes (9g Islerc de Bellouet) overcame a 25 meter handicap to be second wit J.P, Maillard up for trainer Erno Szirmay. Third was 13/1 Arpege Herbinaie (8g Imoko) for Adrien Lamy and trainer David Armellini.
Tomorrow is the eighth leg of the Gr, III Grand National du Trot to be raced at Saint Malo. The purse is 90,000 euro and 18 contestants will travel 2950 meters distance handicap. It should be a superb event with Cleangame and Uniflosa Bella at the start.
August 11 is the famed Aby Stora Pris (Gr. I International, UET Masters Series, 3140 meters autostart), a classic race that began in 1936 at Aby Racetrack in Molndal Sweden. Top performing Propulsion and Readly Express are expected to be at the start.
