This Friday (October 12th) marks the 25th running of the Windy City Pace. If you haven’t been to Maywood Park for its featured night of the year, you must get there.

A great time can be had by all at Maywood on this very exciting night, however, if you can’t get there live, make sure you get to your favorite OTB location as promotions, contests, raffles and of course great racing with mark this very special evening. In addition to the Windy City Pace is the two divisions of the Galt and Abe Lincoln Stakes, Cinderella and Violet Stake finals.

The first big race of the evening is the Galt Stake for 3YO trotters. Green Day figures to be heavily favored in this contest, after winning the Yonkers Trot and coming from the Red Mile, where he trotted rather well. Back to the half this week and gets the services of Andy Miller as well. Green Day should romp….$100 win wager on Green Day.

The fourth is the first division of the Abe Lincoln stake. This race is for 2YO pacers. This contest on paper looks as a wide open race. The first two finishers of the Cardinal series both drew outside and Littlebitoflife had to pace to a world record to beat the seven, Mucho Sleazy. These two chief competitors both drew the inside, as Lets Getit Started drew one and Omaha Survivor drew the two slot. My $50 wager will be on the 2-Omaha Survivor. Tony Morgan comes in for the drive and he and Tom Harmer have paired up for some big paydays in the past and they get it done again tonight in an upset. $50 to win on Omaha Survivor.

There looks to be a ton of speed in the Windy City Pace this year, race five on tonights card. This should set up for local shot, Home Bed Advantage. Home Bed Advantage was on the sidelines for the last three months before last weeks game effort, and effort he needed. I think its too much to ask of the get Home Bed Advantage in the winners circle this year. Perhaps the horse with the most speed is the three, KF St Patrick. My thoughts are the threat of so much speed will cause drivers to be too cautious to get into a speed dual and St Patrick will sit in the two hole and make a move on the lead about three quarters into the race and $50 says that is what happens.

Race six is the second division of the Abe Lincoln stake. This looks to be a two horse race. Both Froggy Turner and Genuwine look to be much better then the rest in this field of eight. Both pacers have won seven races this year and over $140k. I will do a $20 exacta box with these two strong contenders, hoping their outside posts get me a decent price.

The second division of the Galt Stakes is race seven and there looks to be quite a bit of speed in this contest as well. This sets up well for my pick, the eight Before He Cheats. This trotter looks to be in great form right now and will close quite a bit in the last half of the race and should my projected speed dual emerge, Before He Cheats could be right there to get the hard closing win. I should get pretty good value as well out of the eight slot. $50 to win on Before He Cheats.

The Cinderella for 2YO filly pacers pits Sportsfancy against a field of six. Arts Fancy, the four is a good looking young filly with some short track experience and Sportsfancy has looked good this year winning 11 of 17 starts. These two will be overbet and yield little value, but my pick will be the one, Vaudeville Margie. Andy Miller will be able to choose the trip he’d like, as he drew the rail. $50 to win on the one, Vaudeville Margie.

The final of the big stakes races on this Windy City Pace night is the Violet for Illinois Bred 3YO filly pacers. The one, She’s So Hot drew the rail, has the speed to keep position and Dave Magee in the bike. $50 to win on She’s So Hot.

This is truly a great night to be part of the harness action and you’ll want to be a part of all the promotions and excitement that is Windy City Pace Night. OTB also has some new places where you too can GET LUCKY…HAVE FUN…and WIN MONEY with openings this week in Waukanda, next week in Elk Grove Village and two weeks from now our North Aurora location will be open as well. Just more ways for you to enjoy the great sport of harness racing.
