Goshen, NY ---According to Alisa Horner, Office Manager at White Birch Farms, Allentown, NJ, "Three Mile Island died Feb. 2 of natural causes. She didn't have any health issues prior and still looked great, considering her age."

A bay mare by No Nukes, Three Mile Island was from the Race Time dam Racy Kathy.

Foaled in 1985, she took a 2-year-old World Record mark of 1:56.2f and earned $288,079 on the racetrack before starting her Hall of Fame career as a broodmare.

From 15 foals she was a 100% producer whose foals earned over $4.3 million with 12 going over $90,000. Her most notable son was ISLAND FANTASY p,3,1:50.1 ($1,371,525), but she also produced another six sub-1:53 pacers.

She was inducted into the Living Horse Hall of Fame in Goshen as a broodmare in 2001, two years before her sire No Nukes.

"Named for the worst nuclear disaster in North America," noted her page in the Standardbred Old Friends book, the year she foaled a postage stamp was just 22 cents and Gold traded for $327 an ounce. Also of note in 1985--the cost of a Super Bowl ad was a modest $525,000 (this year the cost was 10 times that amount).

Her last foal was born in 2007 and she has lived the last 12 years as a happy retiree at White Birch Farm.
