McSauna went from last to first - when winning last week's $16,000 mares feature

McSauna, Chancey Lady and Rock N Load, winners last time out, lead eight-female pacers in the $16,000 feature race on Monday, March 18 at Dover Downs. Post time is 4:30 p.m.

Tom Tetrick’s McSauna won last Monday’s distaff headliner with Tim Tetrick in the bike while Ed and Jim Hall’s Rock N Load prevailed with Roger Plante driving. Two weeks ago, Corey Callahan drove $2-million winner Chancey Lady to an impressive victory in her most recent start.

Last week, David Sheib, Allen and Ira Kaplan’s Lorrie Please handled by Eric Carlson led until the closing steps before being passed by two rivals to finish third by a neck. Bib Roberts’ Megs Breeze got for Jon Roberts to finish second. Other starters are Joe and JoAnn Thomson’s Spring Break, a winner the week before with Brad Hanners, Yagonnakissmeornot, reined by Montrell Teague for Ted Gewertz, Fannin Racing and George Teague and Korn, Thomases, Wernick and Guarniere’s Angelwithnattitude is a newcomer to the field driven by Ron Pierce.

A pair of $15,000 3,4&5-Year-Old Filly and Mare paces top the undercard. In one, two starters won their previous tests, Mark Mayes’ Poco Granny (Tony Morgan) and Crissman Inc.’s Ariadne Hanover (George Dennis). Nick Callahan’s Taylor B Swift (Corey Callahan) was a beaten favorite finishing second by a neck. Jim and Joe Skowyra’s Two Cam (Brad Hanners) was third.

Don Reed’s Whistler Seelster (Jim Morand) returned to form last week finishing second. Dave Banks’ Fill My Pockets Up (Ross Wolfenden) drew the inside while Claim To Fame’s Artomatic Love (Eric Carlson) drew post 8. Tammy Lafferty and Susan Camac’s Lil Miss Bourbon (Ron Pierce) completes the field.

In the other $15,000 pace, a wide-open affair for young distaffs, Josh Parker and Nanticoke Racing’s Stealin The Show (Allan Davis) is program favorite. Frank Chick’s Heavenly Place (Jason Lynch) leaves from the inside and Lone Oaks Stable’s Lady’s Delight (Mike Rossi) should like an inside start.

The rest of the contestants are Z Tam Stable and trainer Dave McCaffery’s Kissed By The Sun (Ron Pierce), David Banks’ Damsel In A Dress (Ross Wolfenden), Ben Stafford and Dorothy Hock’s Disco Diva (Ben Stafford Jr.) John and Betty Shaw’s Scootin McArdle (George Dennis) and BJ’s Sweetheart (George Dennis) owned by Jason and Susan Skinner, from the outside.

Monday through Thursday post time is 4:30 p.m. No racing on Fridays and on Saturdays. Sunday racing starts at 1 p.m.

Simulcasting of harness and thoroughbred racing is available daily from 12 Noon until 12 Midnight. There is no charge for parking and admission. Early reservations are suggested for the Winner’s Circle Restaurant and for those planning to stay at Dover Downs Hotel. Call 302-674-4600.
