The afternoons first race went off at 5:02 an hour after the storm and threat of lightning passed.
The nine race card went off as scheduled after that and the last race was completed by 7:30.
The track opens at 9 a.m. Saturday when Belmont Park hopes to produce the first triple crown winner in 34 years.
Racing continues at Plainridge on Monday, June 11 with its usual 4 p.m. (Est.). post.
