Patronus (Lucky Chucky) set a lifetime mark for his new connections on Thursday evening at Saratoga Casino and Raceway while prevailing in the $10,500 feature.
The three year old trotter drew post position one but got off to a slow start, getting shuffled back in the sixth horse field for New York Sired trotters.
Driver Jimmy Devaux swung Patronus three wide around the final turn and he soared by rival Driving Me Lindy (Stephane Bouchard) who had to settle for second despite building an imposing lead.
Patronus trotted to a career best 1:59 for Devaux and trainer Gary Levine who raced Patronus for the first time since acquiring him earlier this month. Devaux piloted three winners on the evening's ten race card.
Live racing continues on Friday night with first post time set for 6:45pm.
