Keystone Wallace got up in the final strides

Keystone Wallace pulled off a harness racing upset on Thursday night in the $6,500 featured race for condition trotters at Saratoga Casino and Raceway.

The four year old added trotting hopples for his last qualifier and raced with them for the first time over the sloppy going on Thursday's card. The race's 1-9 favorite Powerful Valor (Austin Siegelman) marched out to an easy lead while Keystone Wallace (Yankee Glide) worked hard early to overcome his outside post and get into the pocket behind the favored leader. Those two drew away from the competition around the final turn before Keystone Wallace got up in the final strides to win in 1:59.2.

Powerful Valor, while a beaten favorite for the second consecutive week, was again a close second while Secret Ingredient (Frank Coppola Jr) got up for third.

It was the first local victory for Keystone Wallace who was also a beaten favorite in his previous start. The Dan Hennessey-trained trotter was driven to the Thursday score by Wally Hennessey who piloted four winners on the card.

Live racing continues on the Fourth of the July with a 6:45pm start to the Friday card.
