Three year old trotting fillies were featured on Thursday at Saratoga Casino and Raceway as the season's first installment of the harness racing New York Sire Stakes took place at the Spa.
The defending stakes champion Barn Doll (Conway Hall) was the start of the show as the trotting star set a track record on Thursday.
The Steven Pratt-trained filly made a power move late in the mile and scored a 1:55.3 victory in her division of the $54,125 Sire Stake.
A winner of seven of nine races as a freshman in '14, Barn Doll is now two for three in 2015 after her record setting performance.
Jeff Gregory piloted the afternoon's fastest trotting filly to her stakes score.
Barn Doll, who moved her career earnings to over the quarter million dollar mark in just twelve lifetime starts, is owned by Steven and Nancy Pratt and the Purple Haze Stables, LLC.
The sophomore standout bested the previous mark for three year old trotting fillies set by Market Rally last year. Other winners of the $54,125 stakes races on the card were Katniss (Credit Winner) for trainer-driver Ake Svanstedt and Jewels In Hock (Credit Winner) with Hall of Famer John Campbell in sulky for conditioner Linda Toscano.
Live racing continues on Friday at Saratoga with a first post time of 6:45pm.
