Verbeeck set a modest pace with the unchecked Timoko, with Paladin Bleu first on the outer and favorite Commander Crowe (10g-Somack- ), J-M Bazire up, right behind. Nearing top of the stretch in the 1609 meters autostart sprint, Verbeeck said go and Timoko powered away to an easy victory in 1.12kr (1:55.85 for the mile).
He earned the winners share of the 180,000 euro purse to increase his career earnings to over 1.85 million euro. Timoko now has 18 wins in 49 starts and is arguably the world’s best aged trotter.
A large crowd was on-hand in the stands and in the winners’ circle to witness this race and a great card of trotting on the seashore.
