CHARLOTTETOWN, PE – Screen Test made short work of his Saturday afternoon preferred harness racing foes with a dazzling 1:55.3 mile at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Corey MacPherson idled his charge from post 8 in the $2,700 top event and settled away fifth while post 1 starter Smart Official (Driven by Jason Hughes) was sent to the lead through splits of 28.2 and 58. Screen Test then began his move first-over and gobbled up ground on his way to a five-length victory in 1:55.3. Smart Official hung on for second with Revenant (Adam Merner) finished third.
Ron Gass trains Screen Test for owner Kickin Horse Stable of York and William Andrew of Calgary.
Marc Campbell was the hot commodity of the day, winning four races on the 10-dash card including the pacing mare and trotting features. Freddie came back to action on a winning note, stopping the clock in 2:00.4 in the $2,400 Open Trot for trainer-driver Campbell and owner Three Wisemen Stable of Kingston. The $2,900 Fillies and Mares Open pace was more of the same as Dreamfair Zenfire got up for a head decision in 1:57.4 from the Campbell stable for owners Ryan and Everett MacLeod of Souris. The leading reinsman the last 11 seasons at the capital oval, Campbell also won with Zack The Men (1:59.1) for trainer Michael MacDonald and with Here Comes Red (1:59.1) from the Wade Sorrie barn.
Live racing continues Tuesday evening for a special 6 P.M. program. For more information go to Redshores.ca.
