Top racemares for Melbourne Premier Sale

Almost 50 percent of the yearlings listed for sale at the 2010 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, to be held at Oaklands Junction on Sunday, March 14, are out of race-winning dams. Furthermore, 42 of the 100 lots are from winner-producers.

To be conducted by Dubbo-based sales company Davidson Cameron Board & Simmons, the sale will commence at 11am.

Heading the list of dams in the sale is the multiple two-year-old classics winner Smooth Sensation 2:00.9 ($249,419), the dam of the Westerrn Australian Western Crown winner Lombo Serene, Luminous Lombo 1:57 and Maka Million Lombo 1:59.7. She is represented by the Lombo Mandingo colt Lombo Unleashed (Lot 47).

The Bathurst Gold Bracelet winner Ezee Lombo 1:58.3, the Australian Pacing Gold heat winners Lombo Mondoluce, My Bagatelle Lombo and Saxony Style, the Moonee Valley winner Illawong Kaye 1:59.1, Curry An Rice 1:57, Moore Points 1:58.4, Borg Steen 1:58.6, True Right 1:58.8, Hitch To Fitch 1:58.9, Catalena Drive 1:59.1 and Loki 1:59.3 are other smart racemares with progeny in the sale.

Queens Franco, the 2006 South Australia Broodmare of the Year, has an Artiscape half-brother to the classic winners Scruffy Murphy, Fibber Magee and Slip Mahone in the sale. He is Lot 67.

Another triple sub 2:00 producer with progeny in the sale is the Troublemaker mare Lisa, the dam of the Victoria Youthful Stakes winner Flighty Lisa and Lisa Don. She has Lot 93, an Elsu colt.

Lot 52, an Elsu filly, is a half-sister to the Breeders Crown semi-final winner and Oaks placegetter Stihletto 1:57.1 ($116,359).

One of the highlights of the sale will be Lot 75, an Elsu half-brother to last year's Breeders Crown two-year-old fillies' champion Led Suitcase.

The dams of a number of other classic winners are represented including Scent (NSW Oaks), Cullens Crown (NSW Sapling and MIA Breeders Plate), Step Up And Play (Tas. Golden Slipper), Nova Arama (Premier Sale Graduate Pace) and Bailed Up (NSW Spring Gift).

Maorimoon, Be Positive and Icantremember, a trio of trotting broodmares, have progeny in the sale. Maorimoon, the dam of Vicbred winner Master Maori, has a Pegasus Spur filly; Icantremember, the dam of Tatlow winner Mister Castleton, has a Yankee Paco filly; and Be Positive, the dam of the talented Got It Show It and Exuberant, has a colt by Earl.
