Most of Australia's Top Ten sires from the 2010/11 harness racing season are represented in the catalogue for the 2012 Victorian Premier Harness Yearling Sale, to be held for the first time at the Quest Shepparton Racing Complex Showground, on Sunday, 22nd January.

Art Major, the leading sire of two-year-olds and second on the all-aged list, has a colt and a filly in the sale, while the third, fourth, fifth and sixth ranked stallions Village Jasper, Bettor’s Delight, Courage Under Fire and Mach Three respectively, all have a single entry.

Armbro Operative, seventh on the list, will be represented by two colts and a filly and his Alabar Bloodstock studmate Grinfromeartoear (10th) has two fillies and a colt.

There are 39 different stallions with progeny in the sale.

A feature of the sale is the high proportion of first-season sires with stock up for auction. Former USA 2YO Colt of the Year Major In Art has five lots, Kenneth J (5), Stonebridge Regal (4), trotting sire Lawman (4), Artistic Fella (3), Safari (3), and Triple Crown winner No Pan Intended, Santanna Blue Chip, Gotta Go Cullect, Tiz A Masterpiece and Muscle Mass (trot) one each.

Other well-known sires represented include Blissfull Hall (6 lots), Modern Art (5), Four Starzzz Shark (5), Badlands Hanover, Dream Away and Jeremes Jet.

The sale will follow the fabulous Shepparton Cup meeting the previous night featuring the Shepparton Gold Cup, heats of the Trotters Inter Dominion and finals of The Lombo two-year-old series.

Horses nominated for this year’s sale will be eligible for The Lombo series in 2013 carrying a minimum $20,000 (guaranteed) for the finals for both sexes.
