The Pennsylvania Racing Commission has confirmed that Total Truth, an entrant in the $500,000 Ben Franklin Pace at Harrah’s Chester Racetrack on June 15, was scratched from the race by the judges after an earlier test for a permissible steroid (Stanazol) revealed the horse to be over the legal limit.

The positive test came in connection with the horse’s third place finish in the $50,000 elimination race for the Franklin on June 8.

Total Truth’s trainer, George Teague, will be fined $500 and Total Truth will be on the judge's list, unable to compete until he tests within legal limits. In addition, the purse money won in the elimination, $6,000, is to be forfeited.

Teague was given the option to scratch the other horses entered from his stable at Chester yesterday and he exercised that option by scratching Southwind Lynx, Mr Apples and Allamerican Karnak from non-stakes races on the Chester card.

The Commission has notified Teague, by fax, of his right to appeal.
