Anthony Barrier smartly steered the Jean-Paul Marmion owned/trained Triode de Felliere (f6 Derby du Gite-Linea de Vandel-Cezio Josselyn) to a rallying win in the second "B", the Gr. II UET Masters Series Prix du Bourbonnais.

The 52/1 longshot prevailed over 7/1 Uhlan du Val (m5 Islero de Bellouet-Indiana Beautiful-Beautiful Somolli) with Cedric Megissier aboard.

Pacestter Soleil du Fosse (m7 Jag de Bellouet-Fortune du Fosse) handled by trainer Thierry Duvaldestin, at 47/1, ended third in a dead heat with the 28/1 Marielles (Italy, f7 Kick Tail-Egida Play-Waikiki Beach) with Matthieu Abrivard up for trainer Fabrice Souloy.

Texas Charm (m6 Cygnus d'Odyssee-Kamela Charm-Coktail Jet) rallied for fifth for Julien Dubois.

The winner's time was 1.14.6kr in what was a slowly-rated pace with time at the 1500 meter mark of 1.16.8kr, 1.15.7kt at the 1000 and 1.15.8kr at the 500.

Most of the field sprinted home but the 25 meter handicapped horses (those with life earnings of 1,076,000 euro and above) had little chance.

Finishers 6-10 were Tiego d'Etang, Ready Cash, Santa Rose France, Royal Dream and Roxana de Barbray.

Singalo was disqualified for a miscue while contesting the lead early and Timoko showed little and ended unplaced.

Ready Cash raced toward the end following Texas Charm and closed smartly in what seemed to be a training exercise.

Royal Dream raced on the inside toward the back after catching the 2850 meter pack and also closed with trot between horses.

The other Italian contestant Pascia Lest led briefly at the start before yielding for a two-hole position but the Enrico Bellei handled trotter faded badly when the pace quickened.

Photos of the stretch drive follow and the race replay may be seen on as this race served as the Quinte+ race of the day.

The Q+ returned 42,747 euro (exact order) for a two euro wager with the jackpot being 2.6 million euro to a ticketholder having the system generated 4-digit number 1547 on the exact order mutuel ticket.

Graded Races Kickoff Strong Paris-Vincennes Weekend

On a weekend featuring the Prix de Bourbonnais and the Gran Criterium 3 Ans on Sunday, a myriad of excellent graded events are also taking place.

Today’s Prix Narquois (Gr. III, 2700 meters, 90,000 euro purse) began the action with a win by Ultimate du Rib (5g Dahor de Prelong-Kara Pellois) and teamster Jean Lois Claude Dersoir.  Joel Hallais trains the winner for Ecurie Rib. The 20/1 upsetter scored in 1.13.2kr over Un Amour d’Haufor (5m Love You-Glamour d’Haufor) for Christian Bigeon with third to pacesetter Un Charme Fou (5m Love You-Ma Crown) and Pierre Vercruysse for trainer Franck Leblanc.

The Gr. II Prix Artiste Hemard (2700 meters, 120,000 euro purse) for four year-old mares went to fast finishing Victoire (4f Kitko-Juventa Blue) for J-P Mary over Vive Daidou (4f Ouragan de Celland-Orange Douce) with trainer/driver Thierry Duvaldestin up. Pacesetter Viva Island (4f Goetmals Wood-Island Dream) raced tough to hold for a close third with owner/trainer/driver Jean-Pierre Dubois aboard. The winner scored in 1.14.8kr for the 5/1 odds win. The evenly rated pace picked up steam markedly in the final 500 meters as the time after 2200 meters was 1.15.9kr.
