The Turf Trophy trotting action continued this weekend in France with three races at Royan La Palmyre and three at La Gacilly.

Royan La Palmyre carded three races, one each for apprentice, amateur and the professional drivers, for excellent purses on the grass courses. The Royan venue is one of 14 stops (this the ninth) on the Trophee Vert circuit with five more to follow. The equine participants must be five to ten years old and non-winners of €550,000. The circuits purses to be allocated total €665,000, with €67,000 this day on the three races.

The Royan featured Grand Prix M.M.A. Royan (3075 meters, €45,000 purse) saw Matthew Abrivardwin with Tiburce de Brion, to defeat Souveraine D’aimte and teamster Eric Audebert.

Eighteen starters contested this ninth stage of the Trophée Vert at  Royan-Palmyra and they provided a great show.Tiburce de Brion (1 - Matthew Abrivard) was the first to take the lead and then settled in the pocket, ultimately trapped in the second half of the pack. Thereafter, Rionero (11 - Alain Laurent) led beforerelinquishing to make way for, among others, Trophy Jaba (13 - Jean-Michel Bazire) installed as the favorite. The latter weakened and alongside ranged Sablon Cesny (2 - Loïc Desire Abrivard). Behind them, assaults were launched, starting with Sovereign d’Aimte (9 - Eric Audebert).

Tiburce de Brion finally escaped traffic and, with Matthew Abrivard, won outright. This seven year-old gelded son of Ganymede is a lion on the grass, having been eight times in the top four on that surface.

He earnedfifteen points as the winner of this leg, and provided driver/trainer Abrivard a double after he won the third race on the card. Wagering on the three Royan featured turf trotting events was brisk with €271,630 wagered to win only.
