Jimmer (Equinox Bi) participated in the Open Trot for the first time at Saratoga Casino and Raceway on Tuesday night.
The Don Sherman trainee wound up getting a pocket trip in his first crack at the $18,000 feature and charged past the race's co-favorite Slugfest (Jay Randall) to record the victory in 1:55.2.
Jimmer was claimed this spring by Sherman and co-owner Jessica Roegner and is putting together a career season.
One week removed from his lifetime best 1:54.1 score, Jimmer had no trouble handling Tuesday's step up en route to his sixth victory on the campaign.
Slugfest has now finished first or second in thirteen of his seventeen seasonal tries as the 9-5 co-favorite was the runner up in the six horse Open while invader Dancehall Mistress (Billy Dobson) came on to finish third.
Jimmer returned $17.00 to win and started an exacta that paid $62.50 and a triple that came back $212.
The win was one of three on the evening for conditioner Don Sherman who currently sits in fifth in the local trainer standings.
Live racing continues on Wednesday night with a first post time of 7:05pm.
