SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The New York Sire Stakes has updated its 2020 County Fair Racing schedule to reflect the cancelation of two harness racing events: Schoharie County at Cobleskill (Aug. 11) and Tioga County at Owego (Aug. 15). The revised schedule is now available at www.nysirestakes.com/racing.
All other dates on the revised schedule remain the same as previously announced. The series will begin on Thursday, July 9, at Afton in Chenango County. The County Fair Finals will be held at Goshen Historic Track on Sunday, Sept. 6, and will be raced for purses of $10,000 per division.
A racing protocol will be released shortly for the fair events and participants will be required to adhere to those at each stop on the circuit. Participants can expect protocols to be similar to those in place at pari-mutuel tracks. Unique to the fairs, we will request that horsemen race out of their trailers as much as practical to reduce the sanitizing burden on county fair personnel.
The annual County Fair racing booklet will be mailed soon. To ensure you are on the list to receive a hard copy, email your request with mailing address to info@nysirestakes.com. A digital version will also be posted at www.nysirestakes.com.
