It was not only a lifetime mark for Drop The Ball, but the five-year-old mare bytied the world record that she now co-owns with Southwind Tempo and Camille. It was the fourth victory for Drop The Ball, who is trained by and owned by the Let It Ride Stable, Dana Parham and Robert Cooper Stable, all of south Florida. Drop The Ball paid $2.60 to win.

It was Sir Richard Z Tam () who left from the outside in post eight and battled for the early lead control from Good Day Mate ( ) by the opening quarter mile in :26. But that lead was short lived as Palone sent Ultimate Beachboy to the front before the half mile, but they had little rest as Brian Sears came charging first-over at the half in :53.4 with Rocknrolwilneverdieand nearly passed Ultimate Beachboy.
But Palone would not let it happen as he woke Ultimate Beachboy up and they barely were able to keep Rocknrolwilneverdie from taking command at the three-quarters in 1:20.4. But from that point on Ultimate Beachboy drew away from the field and won by three and three-quarter lengths. Net Tem Eom (George Naptolitano, Jr.) closed well to be second with Normandy Invasion (Dave Miller) third.
It was the fourth win this year for Ultimate Beachboy, a son of, who is trained by Ron Burke and owned by the Bruke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, M1 Stable and Jack Platt, III.
Ultimate Beachboy tied the world record that is now co-held with three other horses, Alsace Hanover, Beach Memories and Vegas Vacation.
