There is nothing the harness racing community loves more each year than the emergence of the two year olds at qualifiers throughout North America.
New sires get the chance to stake their claim and everybody is looking for that special two year old.
Today at Mohawk there were fifteen qualifying races for the babies and one colt announced himself to the world with a stunning display in his qualifying heat.
Matchplay Hanover led from barrier eight with ease and set a steady but not spectacular tempo in front.

Purchased out of last years Harrisburg Sale for a paltry $22,000, Matchplay Hanover looks to have that raw speed that separates the top horses from the pack.

The son of Western Terror who went 1:48.3 and earned $1,331,623 on the track has a first crop of just 38 foals but has already had five qualifiers including todays winner Warrawee Rocket from the seven hole in 1:59.1 with the last quarter in 28.2
The former brilliant two year old Big Jim 2 1:49.2 ($1,544,580) has his first crop of 74 two year olds hitting the track this season and he had three qualifiers today so he is off to a handy start.
The Real Artist stallion Southwind Lynx 1:48.3 ($1,763,830) has just two horses on the ground this season but had a smart qualifier today in Western Lynx who stopped the clock in 1:58 with the last quarter in 27.1
