Two-year-olds were out in full force again on Saturday morning at Mohawk Racetrack and The Meadowlands, with rookies qualifying in the sub-1:55 range.

Some Power showed some speed by winning his qualifier gate-to-wire in 1:54.4 for driver Chris Christoforou and trainer Casie Coleman. The $270,000 yearling purchase of Jeffrey Snyder of New York and Four Friends Racing Stable of Moorestown, N.J. sold at Harrisburg last year under the name of Way Bay Hanover, a brother to speedsters Westwardho Hanover and Woodstock Hanover.

Also of note in that qualifier was Bring On The Beach, a full brother to Some Power's sire, Somebeachsomewhere. The $155,000 yearling was making his on-track debut for Mardon Stables of Loretto, Ont., Daniel Macisaac of Charlottetown, PEI and Paradox Farm of Caledon East, Ont. Bring On The Beach made an early break and was distanced.
