The smart Lis Mara four year old mare Christy Breanna is one of those horses that seem to continually fly under the radar of the harness racing community.

There has been little fanfare or publicity following her amazing time trial at Ashburton recently where she ran a brilliant 1:51.7 to lower the previous New Zealand record held by Spirit Of Venus by 1.3 seconds.

Her time was comfortably inside the New Zealand race record of 1:52.1 held by the brilliant, Kiwi Ingenuity.

With four wins on her card already for trainer Tony Barron, she is heading to Addington on Saturday afternoon in an effort to make a late claim for a Harness Jewels berth.

Currently just under $5,000 short of the cut off for making the field, a win on Saturday may be enough to get her a start in the Jewels feature.

However that pans out, she is to be retired to stud after winter racing and is to visit the court of Bettors Delight in the spring.

And she has all the credentials needed to excel in the broodmare ranks.

Not only does she hold a time of 1:51.7 but she is also a half-sister to the war horse, Bold Cruiser 1:56.8 $574,800 and to the 2008 3yr old  Fillies Sire Stakes Final winner in Badlands Jewel 1:56.7 $154,578.

With her grand-dam being the outstanding producer Port Medley, Christy Breanna has a pedigree to match her 1:51.7TT mark.
