The French stallion Used To Me, a fine trotter in Europe and Australia and now at Haras Des Trotteurs’ stud near Ballarat (Vic.), has been represented by some promising two-year-olds this season.
Used To Me, who took a record of 1:59.1 and won almost $650,000 in stakes, has not had many chances at the stud, but he has sired a smart filly in Imsettogo (Tr 1:59.5), the winner of $102,615, and a top two-year-old in Dont Care, who has won three races and finished a creditable second in the Breeders Crown.
My Used To Me, who won three races in succession in Adelaide, She Sailz, a winner on the all-trotting card at Bendigo, and Surprise To Me have been other recent two-year-old winners by Used To Me.
Used To Me is one of several stallions on the Haras Des Trotteurs’ roster to experience success with their progeny during the last fortnight.
Quaker Jet, the richest son of the great Love You, was represented by two three-year-old winners last week in Im Ready Jet, who came from last to win the Scotch Notch Trot at Bendigo, and Imamaorijet, who won for the second time at Terang. Im Ready Jet tramped the mile in a sparkling 1:56 highlighted by a last 800 metres in 56.4 (28.7 and 27.7) racing three deep!
Quaker Jet boasts the amazing score of having sired 11 winners from 17 starters in Australia at an average of almost $21,000 per starter.
The Best Madrik, a multiple Group 1 winning son of Coktail Yet, sired the recent Cranbourne winner in the three-year-old filly Megeve, one of his sire’s four winners from four Australian-bred starters to date.
Coktail Jet’s champion sire Love You was represented by a ‘new’ winner in the three-year-old Celebration Stride, a winner on debut at Invercargill, and others in Gentleman Sir (winner of $109,771) and Littlebitoflove (Cambridge Raceway, NZ).
Finally, Orlando Storm, a four-year-old mare and one of the brilliant first crop of Orlando Vici, won for the fifth time at Canberra. Orlando Vici has left 10 winners and a placegetter from 11 foals in his initial crop.
